Kid Snacks

Kids, it is often said, can be very picky eaters. It is usually difficult to pry their hands away from cookies, chips, and other junk foods – let alone get them to eat healthfully.

So how do you do it then?

Be creative! And let the little ones help you make their own snacks. That way, they learn what exactly they are eating as well as how to make healthier choices. Plus, it can be just plain fun!

Here you will find tons of creative, yummy, healthy snack recipes that both you and your kids will love! Go ahead and have fun with your kids in the kitchen!

munch on these

Ants on a Log
Many children I know (and a few adults as well) run away when they see celery. I don’t even like eating them plain because they just taste so bland (and don’t get me started about those annoyingly long fibers). However, when you fill them with honeyed peanut butter and sprinkle a few raisin “ants” on top, I guarantee no kid or very big kid (like me) will be able to resist.

Yogurt Parfait
Spend more time with your child in the kitchen by making a yogurt parfait together. Your youngster will enjoy the tangy, fruity, crunchy blend of flavors. And you will enjoy the fact that all you needed were three simple ingredients. Leave the parfait assembly to your child and watch them build confidence and (more importantly) enjoy snacking healthfully.

Bugs in a Bag
This is a great snack for kids to carry around in long car rides or just to show off to their friends at school. Raisins, gummy worms, and dried cranberries make perfect “bugs” and crushed graham crackers look just like sand. All the “bugs and sand” are neatly sealed away in a plastic bag, so munching does not become a huge mess. Watch as your child digs away with a spoon and excitedly discovers all the bugs hiding in the sand!

Craving More?

Being a kid myself (kid at heart that is), I found these ideas really fun and yummy to make. But, more importantly, what did your kids think? I would really love to hear your comments, experiences, and stories! Feel free to drop me a message here.

Getting your kids to eat vegetables, every single day, can sometimes feel like an endless struggle. Am I right? Even if your child does like munching on the occasional carrot or celery stick, get them to demand for more veggies. How? Head on over here to find my favorite vegetable snack ideas. They will get both you and your child snacking on nature’s best in no time!
