Bugs in a Bag

Serves 1

Don’t worry. No live creepy crawlers are needed to make bugs in a bag. Finely crushed graham crackers are the perfect “sand” to burry raisin “ants,” dried cranberry “beetles” and gummy worms. This recipe is more an idea than a precise instruction manual. Use as many raisins, cranberries, and gummy worms as you like. If your child doesn’t like raisins, you can leave them out and add in new ingredients (like granola “dirt”). Have fun experimenting with different combinations!

Ingredients

2 graham cracker sheets
raisins
dried cranberries
sugar free gummy worms

Directions

Put the 2 graham cracker sheets into a plastic bag and seal. Let your child crush the graham crackers in the bag finely, or until they look like sand. Add raisin “ants,” dried ranberry “beetles” and gummy worms to your desired amount. With a spoon, your child will be able to dig through the sand and eat all the bugs he or she finds along the way!

Enjoy!

Healthy Benefits
Surprisingly, graham crackers are relatively low in fat. Compared to other cookies (like oreos and sugar cookies) they make healthier snack alternatives for kids. Raisins are packed with antioxidants that help cleanse your blood and improve overall health. Dried cranberries are a great source of vitamin C and may reduce your risk for urinary tract infections.
